Why ACToN Marketplace?
We had good people. We needed a better way to connect them.
ACToN came out of The IQ Club in Melbourne, Australia.
As a networking organisation, IQ Club brought together seasoned business people. Some were naturally good at 1-on-1s and relational networking. Referrals and opportunities seemed to come easily. Others found it harder. Sometimes that came down to personality. Sometimes people were simply busy.
Either way, traditional business development took time.
People would drive across town, pay for transport and parking, grab a coffee — and often know within 15 minutes whether there was an opportunity. But out of politeness, they would stay for 45 minutes.
There was no structure. People told each other what they did, they had a good conversation but often left without knowing what they could actually do for each other.
“This is what I do” doesn't create collaboration.
We needed a better way — a more time-efficient way for more people to create more opportunities, more outcomes, more of the time.
That became ACToN Marketplace.
So, why a game?
In a world of AI, acceleration, and greater productivity expectations we needed to upgrade relationship networking.
Rather than exhausting ourselves and doing four 1-on-1s over the course of a full day we asked whether we could get better results in less than one hour by curating one table.
So, we turned networking into a game. Why?
Games are fun. They also have guidelines and rules.
Everyone gets equal time.
Everyone knows what they're there for.
Everyone has permission to ask.
Better outcomes.
In the process of developing ACToN we discovered that people struggled to articulate what they did, to define what they needed, and they were intimidated to ask for a referral.
So we created the Talent, Need, Request framework to help them get to the point.
Curation not accumulation.
For too long business networking has been a business card collection exercise.
What ACToN Marketplace does is help you get to outcome faster.
ACToN Marketplace and ACToN Private Tables do the heavy lifting to unite you with four aligned professionals and give you permission to ask.
Want better outcomes?
Now you can ask.
